Burning mouth syndrome, also known as tongue pain, is mainly characterized by a burning sensation at the site of the lesion, but can also be characterized by numbness, tingling, dull pain and other abnormal sensations, mostly occurring in the mucosa of the tongue root. There is no effective drug for the treatment of burning mouth syndrome, and the main clinical treatment is to remove the cause, psychotherapy and symptomatic treatment. Firstly, local stimuli in the oral cavity, such as calculus, over-sharp tooth tips, and bad restorations are removed. Depending on the degree of pain, oral painkillers and analgesic drugs, such as ibuprofen, fenbendazole, and loxoprofen sodium, can be taken to reduce the patient’s pain. Psychotherapy is used to improve the patient’s psychological state and behavior, thus reducing the symptoms and improving the treatment effect.
