Normally, most of the stomach is located in the upper left part of the body’s abdominal cavity, with a small portion in the upper abdominal region. However, the location of the stomach may vary slightly in different states. The stomach is an organ of the human digestive tract and consists of four main parts: the cardia, the fundus, the body of the stomach and the pylorus. The stomach is connected to the esophagus through the cardia and to the duodenum through the pylorus. Most of the stomach is located in the upper left part of the abdominal cavity, while a small part is located in the upper abdomen. The position of the stomach varies slightly depending on the size of the person, the position of the body, and the amount of stomach contents. When fasting, the stomach is usually located in the upper left abdomen. However, when full, the stomach may go to the mid-abdomen or even the lower abdomen due to the large amount of contents in the stomach. Some people who are thin, have a narrow chest, or are underdeveloped may also have gastroparesis, and the stomach may be positioned a little lower.
