Beneficial Stomach Soup is used to treat conditions caused by Stomach Yin deficiency (insufficient Yin fluid in the stomach) syndrome, such as dry mouth and throat, red tongue with little moss. Beneficial Stomach Soup is the name of a Chinese medicine formula that nourishes stomach yin and consists of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, Radix Ophiopogonis, Rock Sugar, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata and Rhizoma Polygonati. It has the effect of nourishing yin and benefiting the stomach (replenishing yin fluid and enhancing the function of the stomach and internal organs). The combinations of Yi Stomach Tang are as follows: Radix Panax Ginseng nourishes the stomach and promotes the production of fluids (nourishing the stomach by replenishing the fluids in the stomach); Ophiopogon monnieri moisturizes the lungs and clears the heart; Radix et Rhizoma Dioscoreae nourishes yin and clears heat (nourishing the yin essence and clearing away the heat evils); and Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati nourishes yin and moisten dryness. The combination of these herbs nourishes yin and benefits the stomach. The adverse reactions, contraindications and precautions of Yi Stomach Tang are not known. Chinese medicine needs to be used under the guidance of a doctor to identify the symptoms, and should not be used on its own to avoid adverse effects.
