How to get rid of swelling from a knee injury

Swelling of knee injury can be relieved and treated by general treatment, physical therapy, medication and surgery according to the degree of injury.
1. General treatment: after the injury, the knee joint should be braked and rested, the affected limb should be elevated, and if necessary, plaster or brace can be taken to fix it, avoiding the knee joint activity and causing re-injury, which can help to reduce the local oozing and edema.
2. Physiotherapy: local ice packs can be applied within 72 hours after the injury to reduce local oozing and oedema, and hot packs, infrared and other physiotherapy can be applied after 72 hours to help promote the absorption of oedema.
3. Medications: Commonly used topical medications include Yunnan Baiyao aerosol, diclofenac diethylamide emulsion, etc. for spraying or applying, and oral medications include ibuprofen, celecoxib, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and pain relieving medications, which can help to relieve the pain and the absorption of the inflammation.
4. Surgery: For serious knee injuries, such as meniscus injury, ligament rupture or even fracture, which may be accompanied by nerve and blood vessel injuries, conservative treatment is ineffective, it is recommended to choose surgical treatment.
If the swelling of the knee injury is obvious, or accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, the patient should go to the hospital in time, after clarifying the cause to give targeted treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
