Can I start orthognathic orthodontics on my first visit?

The first visit to orthodontics is mainly a consultation with the doctor, including what the current problem is, the possible causes, the general treatment, as well as the cost and the possible time needed for the whole course of treatment. Only after that can the examination begin, mainly taking x-rays and taking models of the teeth. Sometimes, it is not decided right away whether to start the treatment or not, and it is necessary to go back and discuss the decision. In addition, due to the large number of patients requesting orthodontic treatment and the long duration of each orthodontic treatment, in order to be responsible for each patient and to ensure the quality of orthodontic treatment, the doctor has to ask the patient to wait for a certain period of time before starting the examination and treatment. Of course, there are some special cases where treatment must be started at a certain age, otherwise there is a risk of missing the good time for treatment and affecting the effect of treatment, and the doctor will start the patient into the treatment process immediately without waiting. Therefore, orthodontic treatment is different from other visits to the doctor. The first visit is not to start treatment immediately, but to give parents and patients a general understanding of the situation and to get a good communication with the doctor.
