Oxcarbazepine is taken up to 2400 mg a day.
The starting dose of oxcarbazepine is 600 mg/day, divided into two doses. The daily dose may be increased every other week in order to obtain the desired results, not exceeding 600 mg per increase.
It is recommended that patients take no more than 2400 mg/day. If doses up to 2400 mg/day are taken, patients may experience adverse reactions and become intolerant. No systematic studies have been conducted on doses greater than 2400 mg/day.
Oxcarbazepine is indicated for adults with partial seizures and may be treated with the drug alone or in combination. Some patients may experience adverse reactions after using the drug, such as generalized fatigue and weakness, mild dizziness, headache, loss of muscle strength, depression, acne, alopecia, vertigo, visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhea. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the drug.
