A few murmurs are caused by diseases, such as fever, anemia or hyperthyroidism, which can produce heart murmurs, called functional murmurs. If the murmur is caused by anemia, the main treatment is to correct the anemia and give antipyretic treatment when fever is present. If the heart rate increases and heart murmurs are caused by hyperthyroidism, the main treatment is to give drugs for hyperthyroidism, and if necessary, use beta-blockers such as betalactam to control the ventricular rate, and the corresponding heart murmurs will be reduced or disappeared. Pathological heart murmur is mostly seen in children with congenital heart disease, common diseases such as atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, tetralogy of Fallot, etc. In milder cases of congenital heart disease with heat pain, conservative observation is the first priority, while children with severe congenital heart disease need early surgical treatment.
