Difference between liver spots and chloasma

There is no difference between liver spots and melasma, liver spots are melasma, a yellowish-brown pigmented spot on the face caused by a number of factors. Liver spots and melasma just have different names, but they are the same disease. Chloasma can be caused by many reasons, the common ones are ultraviolet radiation, cosmetic residues, pregnancy, endocrine disorders, race and heredity, etc. It occurs in young and middle-aged women, and can also occur in males, and the skin is often symmetrically distributed on the cheek area of the face, which is in the form of butterfly, and can be involved in the forehead, nose, and the peripheral area of the mouth, with yellowish-brown or brown patches of different sizes, and with clear boundaries. Chloasma can be treated with external decolorizing agents, such as hydroquinone cream, arbutin cream, etc., to inhibit the activity of tyrosinase and reduce the production of pigment; if necessary, oral vitamin C, vitamin E and other antioxidants, to reduce the production of melanin; and when the effect of medication is unsatisfactory, laser treatment can be taken to remove chloasma. It is suggested that if patients are diagnosed with chloasma, they should go to the dermatology department of regular hospitals, follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable treatment, and use medication strictly according to the doctor’s instructions, and not blindly self-medication.
