Turbinate hypertrophy is often caused by chronic hypertrophic rhinitis with hyperplasia and hypertrophy of the mucous membrane of the turbinate, and is usually treated with either medication or surgery. Medications such as budesonide nasal spray or topical medications such as hydroxymetazoline cost a few hundred dollars for conservative treatment. Ineffective treatment with medication can be carried out lower turbinate partial resection, need a few thousand dollars, the specific price and surgical methods, hospital level, geographical area, etc. are related.
Nasal turbinate hypertrophy, the use of nasal spray drugs (such as mometasone furoate nasal spray, fluticasone propionate nasal spray, furosemide nasal drops, etc.). It is beneficial to relieve nasal symptoms and reduce nasal mucosal edema, thus relieving the symptoms of turbinate hypertrophy.
If medication is ineffective, or the hypertrophy is located at the posterior end or lower edge of the inferior turbinate, partial resection of the inferior turbinate can be considered. However, the part of the inferior turbinate to be removed should not be too much, in principle, not more than 1/3 of the inferior turbinate, so as not to affect the function of the nasal mucosa or secondary atrophic rhinitis.
