A fever of 38.2 degrees Celsius is neither low nor high, it is a moderate fever. There are four types of fever, including low, moderate, high and ultra-high fever, which are usually measured clinically by axillary temperature. When the axillary temperature is between 37.3-38 degrees Celsius, it is considered as low fever, axillary temperature between 38.1-39 degrees Celsius is considered as moderate fever, while axillary temperature between 39.1-41 degrees Celsius is considered as high fever, and 41 degrees Celsius or above is considered as ultra-high fever. 38.2 degrees Celsius is a moderate fever. At present, if the patient has no obvious physical discomfort, antipyretic drugs are not recommended, and the symptoms can be closely observed. The temperature can be lowered by drinking more water and urinating more and by physical methods, such as wet towels to wipe the neck, armpits, groin and other parts of the body. However, if it exceeds 38.5 degrees Celsius, it can be treated with fever-reducing medications such as acetaminophen tablets and ibuprofen extended-release capsules under a doctor’s supervision. Patients with persistent fever or malaise should go to the hospital promptly to avoid delays.
