How long does a sore throat usually last after a gastroscopy?

If you have a sore throat after gastroscopy, most cases will be completely relieved in 1-2 days. The reason for the sore throat after gastroscopy is that during gastroscopy, the tube of the gastroscope needs to enter the esophagus through the oral pharynx and then the stomach, and during the operation, the fiber outer tube of the gastroscope may cause some damage to the mucous membrane of the throat, resulting in edema or bleeding in the throat. However, the degree of damage is generally mild and can be completely relieved 1-2 days after the gastroscopy. However, the specific recovery time is related to the degree of injury. If the gastroscopy is done for a long time, such as hemostasis or gastric mucosal resection, the damage to the throat may be more severe due to long term friction and pressure, and the recovery time may be 3-5 days or even longer. After doing gastroscopy you can gargle with saline to prevent bacterial infection, and avoid eating some irritating food and talking loudly, you will soon get better.
