Yellow eyes in infants may be caused by jaundice, lack of trace elements and other factors.
1. Jaundice: Jaundice can lead to yellowing of the sclera, skin and other tissues of the child due to the increase of bilirubin concentration in the blood, so the child may have yellow eyes.
Infant jaundice can be divided into physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice, physiological jaundice usually appears about three days after birth and disappears in about two weeks. Pathological jaundice appears within 24 hours after birth, with higher value and slower to subside.
2. Lack of trace elements: If the baby lacks some trace elements such as vitamin A, the child may also have yellow eyes and skin color.
It is recommended that children with yellowing of the eyes should be seen promptly for evaluation of their condition and treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
