Elderberry is a Chinese medicine, clinically used for joint paralysis, bruises and other treatments. Elderberry is sweet, bitter, neutral, and belongs to the liver meridian. It is the root or root bark of elderberry, woolly elderberry, and western elderberry in the genus Elderberry of the family Lonicera. This Chinese medicine has the effect of dispelling wind and dampness, activating blood circulation and relaxing tendons, and inducing diuresis and eliminating edema. It is used for treating rheumatic paralysis (rheumatic arthralgia, resulting in red, swollen, hot, aching and wandering pain in the joints, with the patient’s joint movement restricted), gout, acute and chronic nephritis, rubella, bruises, fracture swelling and pain, phlegm (a pathological product formed as a result of impaired metabolism of water and fluid), and jaundice. Elderberry adverse reactions, precautions are not clear. Pregnant women are forbidden to take the drug.
