The HPV vaccine, also known as the cervical cancer vaccine, is currently available as a bivalent, quadrivalent and nine-valent vaccine to prevent cervical cancer and precancerous lesions caused by different subtypes of human papillomavirus. HPV is prone to infect sexually active women, and the general population is generally susceptible to HPV. The cervical cancer vaccine is available to all people who are susceptible to HPV, but it is better for women who have not started their sexual life to be vaccinated. Several recommended ages are currently 16-26 years old. After the age of 45, when you are already sexually active, vaccination against cervical cancer does not make much sense, so further vaccination is not recommended. The vaccine itself is a protein and may cause symptoms such as local pain, redness, swelling or elevated body temperature after vaccination.
