How to Rehabilitate a Subpatellar Fat Pad Injury

Rehabilitation of infrapatellar fat pad injury can be divided into two phases: acute phase and recovery phase.
1. Acute stage: Strenuous exercise should be avoided in the acute stage of infrapatellar fat pad injury. Appropriate rest, ultrashort wave physiotherapy, taping and other rehabilitation methods should be adopted to promote tissue repair and relieve symptoms.
2. Recovery period: During the recovery period of infrapatellar fat pad injury, appropriate sports rehabilitation training can be carried out, including manipulative massage, lower limb strength training, knee joint stability training.
(1) Manipulative massage: the patient lies on his back and relaxes his lower limbs. The therapist will massage the infrapatellar fat pad on the affected side by pushing and kneading to promote tissue repair.
(2) Lower limb strength training: mainly for the gluteal muscles, quadriceps and other important muscle groups of the lower limb progressive resistance muscle training, such as weighted squatting, squatting, weighted hip bridge.
(3) Knee stability training: single-leg standing training can be carried out on unstable planes such as Bosu ball or balance cushion, and according to the patient’s condition, the task of touching objects and throwing and catching balls can be added to increase the difficulty of training.
It is recommended that patients with infrapatellar fat pad injury should consult a doctor in time, under the guidance of a professional doctor, to develop individualized training programs, do not blindly train on your own, to avoid secondary damage to the organism.
