Toe pain should be treated with anti-inflammatory therapy if it is inflamed. Mild patients can take oral broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory drugs by applying amoxicillin capsules, penicillin V potassium tablets, or choosing cefadroxil tablets. For β-lactam allergy, anti-inflammatory drugs of the macrolide class can be applied, commonly used are roxithromycin capsules or azithromycin dispersible tablets. If the inflammation gradually increases and a significant abscess is formed, the patient will also show increased pain with fever. Local congestion, edema and fluctuation are evident on examination, in which case surgery for incision and drainage should be selected promptly. The operation can be performed in an outpatient operating room under local anesthesia, where the most obvious fluctuation of the lesion is incised, the pus cavity is separated, the pus is thoroughly drained, and adequate drainage is provided, and postoperative anti-infection treatment is required.
