How long does it take for a fracture to heal?

The length of fracture healing time varies from site to site due to different injuries, age, and physical condition. A fracture is a partial fracture of a bone caused by external forces or pathology, and is classified as a partial or complete fracture. After timely and appropriate treatment, most patients can recover their original function, while a few patients may have varying degrees of sequelae. The general recovery time for fracture healing is 6 months, and we will now focus on the healing time of common fracture sites. In general, the healing time of a fracture is the time it takes for the body to heal (i.e., disappearance of clinical signs and symptoms) or for signs to be fixed as recognized by the general principles of clinical medicine after the injury has been diagnosed and treated. This time is defined differently from the recovery time, which generally refers to the disappearance of clinical signs and symptoms. The recovery period also includes the time for recuperative care after the disappearance of clinical signs and symptoms to the time to return to normal activity level. The specific fracture healing time is as follows: 1, limb fracture: clavicle fracture 70 days; scapula fracture 60; humeral stem fracture 90 days; ulnar stem or radial stem single fracture 90 days; ulnar radius double fracture 120 days; distal radius fracture 90 days; finger and metacarpal fracture 70 days; wrist fracture 130 days; femoral neck fracture 270 days to 365 days; femoral stem fracture 120 days; patella fracture 120 days
120 days for tibiofibular fracture; 120 days for ankle fracture. 2, chest fracture: one rib fracture 30 days to 40 days; multiple; multiple rib fracture 90 days; sternal fracture 90 days. 3.Spine and pelvis fracture: 120 days for spine fracture; 90 days to 120 days for stable pelvis fracture; 120 days to 180 days for unstable pelvis fracture. The specific time of fracture healing may be slightly longer or shorter than the above time, which is determined by the specific injury and treatment method of the injured person. Patients with fractures should pay attention to rest and nutrient supplementation to accelerate the healing rate of the bone. Tip: Due to the different times and changes in the mechanism of injury; therefore, the healing time of fractures may be much longer than the above time, and even delayed healing or non-healing may occur. The specificity of healing in an individual needs to be examined by a doctor and observed by X-rays.
