Infants and toddlers have clinical manifestations of frequent tossing and repeated head shaking during sleep due to sleep disorders and other diseases. So what is the examination method for infants and toddlers who toss and turn a lot during sleep and shake their heads repeatedly? Here is a brief introduction. The examination of infants and toddlers who often flip and shake their heads during sleep can be examined according to the clinical manifestations of children’s sleep disorders: medical experts at home and abroad have pointed out that children’s sleep disorders are composed of insufficient sleep time and a series of related symptoms. Related symptoms include snoring, throat choking, apnea, sleep disturbance, open-mouth breathing, excessive sweating, twitching of limbs, teeth grinding, sleep talking, sleepwalking, and urination. Forms of sleep disorders: (1) Sleep restlessness and difficulty in falling asleep: Mostly seen in infants and young children, who often toss and turn during sleep, limb jumping, repeatedly shaking their heads, crying for no reason, grinding their teeth, and talking in their sleep. Some are reluctant to go to bed and have to be held and walked around, or are late to fall asleep, light sleep or wake up early. (2) Night terrors: Common in children aged 2 to 5 years old, usually occurring about half an hour after going to sleep, manifested by sudden shouting, crying, frightened expressions, fidgeting, shortness of breath, increased heart rate, sweating, and dilated pupils. During the seizure, the EEG shows the a-rhythm of wakefulness. Each episode of night terrors can last for l to 10 minutes, and after the episode, the patient falls back to sleep and completely forgets after waking up. Generally, night terrors can disappear on their own with age. (3) Sleep walking disorder: It is more common and is often accompanied by nocturnal enuresis. Some children have a family history of this disorder. The main manifestation is the recurrence of sudden sitting up or getting out of bed in the middle of sleep 1/2 to 2 hours after falling asleep, with hazy consciousness, stroking, wandering and walking or doing some game actions, which are not easy to wake up at this time, and can fall asleep quietly again after about several minutes or half an hour, and completely forget afterwards.
