What is the cause of the pain under the right rib cage when pressed?

Pain on pressure below the right rib cage is commonly associated with trauma and neuromuscular lesions of the right lower chest wall, or diseases of the right upper abdomen, such as the liver and gallbladder, and can be treated with analgesia based on etiologic therapy. 1. Right lower chest wall trauma and neuromuscular lesions (1) Chest wall trauma: when the chest wall rib fracture and soft tissue contusion, pressing can cause the fracture end to be dislocated and aggravate the inflammatory metabolites in the soft tissue to stimulate the nerve endings, resulting in obvious pressure pain. (2) Neuromuscular lesions: in right lower thoracic intercostal neuritis or costochondritis at the right lower costal arch, the pain threshold of the subcostal nerves and muscle tissues is lowered, and the pressure is obviously painful. 2. Liver and gallbladder diseases in the right upper abdomen (1) Liver diseases: the liver is located under the right rib, the pain caused by liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer and liver abscess can pass through the right diaphragm to the right lower chest, and obvious pain will appear when pressing the rib. (2) Gallbladder diseases: cholecystitis, gallbladder stones and other diseases can cause involving pain in the inflammatory tissues at the gallbladder fossa when pressed below the right rib cage. Pressing pain under the right rib cage is recommended to go to the hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
