Accurate Location of Anointing Point

The Anointing Vessel Point is located in the spinal region of the back, under the spinous process of the 4th thoracic vertebra, 3 inches off the posterior median line.
It belongs to the foot solar bladder meridian and is located at the edge of the scapula spine, with the posterior branches of the third and fourth thoracic nerves, the dorsal branches of the fourth intercostal artery and vein and the descending branch of the transverse carotid artery. It has the efficacy of nourishing yin and moisturizing the lung, benefiting qi and strengthening the spleen.
Clinically, it can be used for the treatment of consumption, asthma, cough and other symptoms of lung qi deficiency, and also used for the treatment of night sweating, spermatorrhea, forgetfulness and other symptoms of deficiency labor and scapular pain. Anointing point is a commonly used point in health care moxibustion. This point is often paired with other points, such as with the Lung Yu point and Shakuzawa point to treat asthma and cough.
