How to treat isolated lung

Treatment for isolated lung includes the following: 1) conservative treatment: if the child’s general condition is stable and there are no obvious recurrent respiratory symptoms or airway compression symptoms, conservative treatment can be used; 2) surgical treatment: usually, the timing of surgical treatment for isolated lung should be decided based on the child’s age, weight, body mass and lung head ratio. Surgery is divided into open surgery and minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgical treatment. The concept of minimally invasive surgical treatment is now well established and more popularly carried out in large comprehensive children’s surgical hospitals, with better safety and smaller postoperative scarring. Therefore, physicians should prefer thoracoscopic minimally invasive isolated pneumonectomy as the treatment modality for isolated lung.
