Does the voice change with age?

The basic sound of people’s speech is produced by the vibration of the vocal cords when the airflow impacts them, and the vocal cords will undergo some irreversible changes with age, so the sound will also change.
Children and adolescents have more elastic vocal cords with greater tension, and the frequency of vocal cord vibration increases with airflow impact, resulting in a clearer and more pleasant sound. In older people, the vocal cords become looser and less elastic, and some small gaps appear. When an air current hits the vocal folds, the frequency of vibration slows down and the voice becomes thicker.
At different times in the aging process, such as puberty, female pregnancy and old age, there will be changes in the texture of the vocal folds, resulting in different changes in the voice.
