Swollen labia and pain after intercourse

Swelling of the labia after intercourse may cause local edema due to excessive stimulation of the blood vessels in the vulva during intercourse. Also, if the inflammation of the vagina is aggravated by intercourse, the swelling of the labia may occur. If possible, use warm water or gynecological cleansing, disinfectant and antiseptic lotion 1:10 for 15 minutes to relieve the swelling, and smear some erythromycin ointment on the vulva for 3 days. If the swelling persists, it is recommended to go to the gynecology department for examination of the discharge and, if necessary, treatment by oral anti-inflammatory drugs, including vaginal plugs. In the future, it is important to pay attention to the hygiene of both partners when having intercourse as much as possible to avoid prolonged inflammatory stimulation, which can also cause swelling.
