The newborn baby has a layer of eye boogers in his eyes, thinking that it is a fire, but just one eye and not long before another layer of boogers. What is this all about? Don’t be anxious, the following introduction of neonatal lacrimal sacculitis, can give you a little more knowledge, to solve the baby mother’s doubts! Neonatal dacryocystitis is one of the common eye diseases in newborns, the incidence is >6% in term babies and >11% in preterm babies. Hasner’s membrane is usually broken before the first week of tear secretion, and if the membrane is not absorbed on time, and if the infection is combined, neonatal lacrimal sacculitis occurs. The incidence is similar in males and females, with the majority developing within 5 to 18 days after birth, mostly in one eye. So what should a mother do if her baby is teary-eyed or even has purulent discharge from the eyes? There is no need to rush, in the early stage more local pressure massage method of the tear sac, 2-3 times a day. Massage pressure direction towards the nasal cavity, forcing the contents of the tear sac downward to flush open the closed membrane. After the massage, local eye drops with levofloxacin eye drops, fusidic acid and other antibiotics are used to prevent infection. Each eye local drops before the contents of the tear sac squeeze clean before drops, so that the drug fully into the tear sac, this massage method is a more effective conservative therapy. If the effect is not seen in about two weeks with this method, other treatment methods can be considered to prevent it from turning into inflammation of the lacrimal sac. Tear duct pressure irrigation can also be used to break through the membrane tissue. When the above methods are not effective, lacrimal tract exploration should be carried out as soon as possible, which is a method that must be carried out when medication and flushing methods are not effective, and is also an effective means of curing the disease. Tear duct lysis is usually performed when the baby is more than three months old, but it is best to perform it within six months. It is usually curable in 2-3 sessions.
