Do you know about nasal rinsing?

  Indications and efficacy of nasal rinse: Commonly used for chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, colds, postnasal drip, chronic pharyngitis due to nasal diseases, foreign body sensation in the pharynx, and other conditions. It can flush out purulent secretions from the nasal cavity and promote the repair of nasal mucosal damage and functional recovery; it can also be used for atrophic rhinitis or caseous rhinitis to flush out nasal pus crust and reduce nasal odor; for allergic rhinitis, it is beneficial to reduce nasal mucosal edema and flush out allergens in the nasal cavity.  Method and content: The patient takes a sitting position with head tilted forward and a container placed in front. The nasal irrigator is filled with saline (sometimes with high concentration), and the olive head is gently inserted into the nasal vestibule on one side, so that the saline flows slowly into the nasal cavity by gravity and out through the nostril or mouth on the other side, and the two sides are rinsed alternately.  During the rinsing process, it should be noted that: 1. nasal rinsing should be performed more than twice a day. 2.  2. Ask the patient not to talk or open his mouth to avoid choking and coughing.  3.After rinsing, ask the patient not to blow the nose forcefully to avoid excessive force causing nasal bleeding.  4.Flush the side of nasal cavity that is heavily blocked first, and then flush the opposite side. Otherwise, the rinsing saline may be blocked on the more blocked side of the nasal cavity and irrigated into the eustachian tube.  5, after washing, head tilted forward, so that the residual saline in the nasal cavity discharge, and then side by side, respectively, gently uncover the nose to help drain the net. Do not touch the nose too quickly or too hard, or do not pinch the nostrils on both sides at the same time to force the nose, which may lead to middle ear infection.  6.If coughing, vomiting, sneezing and other uncomfortable phenomena occur during rinsing, stop immediately and wait for a moment before rinsing again.  7.If the induced cough does not heal in the short term, stop the nasal rinse and seek medical consultation to find the cause of the cough.
