The throat feels blocked when lying down is commonly caused by inflammatory secretions oozing out of the throat, which are relatively large and tend to block the airway. More common are acute pharyngitis, acute exacerbation of chronic pharyngitis, and postnasal drip syndrome caused by the presence of rhinitis. Due to cold, rain, late night, alcoholism, fatigue and other triggers of low immunity, caused by viruses, bacteria or mycoplasma, chlamydia invasion of the respiratory tract, so that the mucous membrane of the airway is damaged, the above inflammatory reaction occurs, and a large number of inflammatory secretions ooze out to block the airway. Moreover, when lying down, the secretions of the airway partly reflux to the pharynx, increasing the edema state of the pharynx and blocking the pharynx even more, so the symptom of feeling blocked in the throat when lying down occurs.
