Azelaic Acid Effects

Azelaic acid has been shown to inhibit microbial protein synthesis and is commonly used as a topical treatment for mild to moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris.
A common preparation of azelaic acid is a cream, a topical dermatologic agent that, in vitro, has antibacterial properties against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis, as well as normalizing the keratinization process in the funneled portion of the hair follicle, and is generally used in the treatment of acne.
