Internal gynecological examination is a common gynecological examination method to find out the condition of the vagina, cervix, uterus and adnexal area.
A common method of examination is the bimanual examination, in which one or two fingers of the examiner enter the patient’s vagina and the other hand is placed on the patient’s abdomen to cooperate in the examination. This examination requires the cooperation of both hands, hence the name “double examination”.
The main purpose of the bimanual examination is to check for abnormalities of the reproductive tract, contact bleeding or pain in the cervix, and swelling. The position of the uterus can also be examined, as well as the size and shape of the uterus, its softness and hardness, and whether there is any pressure or pain. Para-uterine tissues can also be examined, and the adnexal area can be examined for pressure or lumps.
Gynecological internal examination is usually for women who are sexually active and is a routine examination. If abnormalities are found during the examination, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to avoid delays.
