Will a two-month-old’s cough heal on its own?

If a two-month-old baby has a cough that is self-healing, the first thing to determine is the cause of the cough. If the cough is not severe, and the mild, occasional cough is caused by an inappropriate environmental temperature or is too dry, the cough will then ease and disappear by adjusting the overall environmental temperature and humidity, which means it can heal itself. If the cough is caused by a common viral infection of the cold, the cough can heal on its own. If the cough is caused by allergic rhinitis, nasal congestion, runny nose or postnasal drip that irritates the baby’s throat, then the problem needs to be solved at the source, i.e. the allergen needs to be identified and isolated in a timely manner. Before effective isolation of the allergen, the symptoms of allergic rhinitis persist, even to the point of allergic coughing, when it is difficult for the cough to reflect the self-healing process. If the baby’s cough is caused by a bacterial infection or a mycoplasma infection, it is usually more severe and requires antibiotic treatment, otherwise it is very difficult to heal on its own. However, these cases are more complicated and need to be further determined and treated by a doctor’s visit and a detailed examination, including possible blood tests and C-reactive protein.
