There are many proprietary Chinese medicines for the treatment of liver depression and fire (liver qi is blocked leading to the production of fire and heat), but there is no clear conclusion on the top ten proprietary Chinese medicines. The common ones are gentian diarrhea liver pill, dan jia jian free pill and chaihu shu liver pill and so on. 1.gentian diarrhea liver pill: it can treat headache, eye redness and swelling pain, coercion and rib pain, dry mouth and bitter mouth, yellow and red urine, damp heat with menorrhagia and other diseases caused by liver depressing and transforming into fire or liver meridian dampness and heat (liver meridian feeling dampness and heat evil qi). Its drug composition includes gentian herb, gardenia, scutellaria baicalensis, chaihu, shengdi huang, zedoary, and plantain seeds. Adverse reaction is not clear, spleen and stomach deficiency cold (spleen and stomach weak cold) people prohibited. 2. Dan gardenia free and easy pill: can treat the liver depression and fire caused by coercion and rib distension and pain, chest and ribs (chest and ribs area collectively) distension and fullness, irritability and easy to anger, dry mouth and bitter mouth, loss of appetite, or women’s breast distension and pain, menstrual irregularities and other diseases. The drug composition includes Mudanpi, Gardenia, Mentha piperita, Angelica sinensis, Paeonia lactiflora, Chaihu, Poria, Atractylodes macrocephala, and Licorice. Adverse effects are not clear. Avoid cold and spicy food. 3. Chai Hu Shu Liver Pill: It can be used for the treatment of liver qi stagnation (liver qi is not flowing smoothly), vomiting and acidity caused by depression and fire, heartburn, bitter taste in mouth, loss of appetite, depression and other conditions. The drug composition includes Chai Hu, Poria, Citrus aurantium, Platycodon grandiflorus, Liu Shen Qu, Scutellaria baicalensis, Rheum palmatum, Betel nut, Perilla frutescens.
