Shuanghuanglian is one of the more classic Chinese medicines, usually used clinically to clear heat and remove toxins, and is usually used to treat patients with colds or cold-like conditions. Some patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia have symptoms similar to those of a cold. It is possible that using Shuanghuanglian may improve some of the symptoms of patients with new coronavirus pneumonia, but so far there is no evidence that Shuanghuanglian has antiviral effects or inhibits viral reproduction and proliferation, and further research is needed on the value of Shuanghuanglian’s clinical application.
