Performance of a standing abdominal radiograph in the presence of intestinal obstruction

Intestinal obstruction is a relatively common surgical disease in clinical practice. The initial diagnosis of intestinal obstruction can be made by taking a standing abdominal radiograph, which shows an obvious liquid-gas plane, pneumatization of the intestinal canal, and an image of small intestinal obstruction with obvious intestinal canal dilatation or step-like changes. After judging the intestinal obstruction by standing abdominal plain film, the specific cause must be found. For those whose causes are unknown, abdominal CT can be further taken for examination, and the combination of the two can find out the specific cause of obstruction, and if necessary, gastroscopy can also be used to further search for the specific cause of obstruction. Once the symptoms of intestinal obstruction appear, it is best to routinely go to the hospital to do a standing plain film of the abdomen, which can initially determine the disease of intestinal obstruction.
