Intestinal obstruction is characterized by severe abdominal pain, which is a typical clinical symptom. There are several reasons for abdominal pain: First, the intestinal canal cannot pass normally due to external factors, and there will be a large amount of intestinal contents, gas, and fluid gathered in the upper end of the obstruction, resulting in neuropathic pain caused by the dilatation of the intestinal canal. Secondly, after the dilatation of the intestinal canal, there will be some intestinal contents, bacteria, and inflammatory exudation, forming an infection in the abdominal cavity, causing inflammation of the peritoneum, which has extensive nerve fiber tissue, so it will show pain in the whole abdomen. Third, after the formation of obstruction, the body’s sensory system will become abnormally sensitive due to the repeated stimulation of pain signals, so often patients will become progressively more painful, one is the gradual aggravation of symptoms, and the second is also caused by the nerve fiber conduction pathway constantly becoming sensitive.
