How to treat central hypothyroidism

Central hypothyroidism is mainly due to the abnormal function of the pituitary gland, which causes a decrease in the level of thyroid stimulating hormone, thus causing the level of thyroid hormone in the body to show a relatively low state. Patients with central hypothyroidism will have a decrease in FT3, FT4 and TSH in laboratory tests. Patients with central hypothyroidism also need to take oral levothyroxine sodium tablets for thyroid hormone supplementation, and patients with central hypothyroidism generally take oral levothyroxine sodium tablets for thyroid hormone supplementation. As long as the thyroid function is within range and the oral replacement dose is physiologic, the patient’s quality of life is generally unaffected.
