What to Expect After Rabies Vaccination

The precautions to be taken after rabies vaccination include skin care, dietary care and hospitalization observation. 1. Skin care: Since rabies vaccine injection is invasive operation, and rabies vaccine will cause local skin tissue stimulation, so local swelling, pain and other uncomfortable symptoms will occur after injection. Patients should strengthen the skin care of the injection, bitten or scratched areas to avoid foreign body friction stimulation, prevent infection and aggravate swelling. 2. Dietary care: after rabies vaccination, patients should pay attention to light, easy to digest food. Avoid consuming cold, spicy and stimulating food, smoking, drinking alcohol, carbonated beverages, strong tea, etc., so as not to affect the efficacy of rabies vaccine or cause gastrointestinal discomfort. 3. Stay in hospital for observation: after rabies vaccination, patients should stay in hospital for observation for a period of time, so as to deal with abnormalities caused by rabies vaccine in time, such as allergic reactions. If there is any adverse reaction after returning home, if it continues to be unrelieved or has the tendency to aggravate, return to the hospital in time to consult the doctor. It is recommended that patients consult a regular hospital for the entire rabies vaccination so that the vaccine’s efficacy can be fully utilized and rabies can be prevented.
