What is high functioning autism

High-functioning autism was an early classification, and according to the fifth edition of the American Diagnostic and Statistical criteria for Mental Disorders, or DSM-5, the original classification was eliminated and autism was referred to collectively as autism spectrum disorder. There are three different levels: the first level is the need for help; the second level is the need for high intensity help; and the third level is the need for very high intensity help. High-functioning autism is defined as an IQ level of 70 or higher when the diagnostic criteria for autistic individuals are met. The normative name for autism is autistic disorder. The presentation of autistic patients is complex, and some of them can maintain an IQ score of 70 or above, which means it is a kind of near-normal, and if it is more than 85, it is considered a normal level.
