There is a difference between the composition, efficacy and main treatment of the medicines of Guiding Chi Pill and Guiding Chi San. 1. Guiding Chi Pill: It is composed of forsythia, Rhizoma Coptidis, Gardenia jasminoides, Mucuna pruriens, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Rhizoma Asphodeloides, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Rhubarb, Scutellaria baicalensis, Talcum officinale and so on. It is used in treating sores on the mouth and tongue, sore throat, irritable heat in the heart and chest (irritability and sultriness), short and reddish urine (small amount of urine, dark yellow in color), and constipation of the bowels caused by internal heat and fire. 2. Guiding Chi San: It is composed of tamarind leaf, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Radix et Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Radix et Rhizoma Mouton, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae. It has the effect of clearing the heart and cooling the blood, inducing diuresis and clearing lymph. It is used for treating heart meridian heat, heart and chest irritation and heat, thirst and face redness, mouth and tongue sores; the heart moves heat to the small intestine, urination is short and astringent, and stinging pain when urinating. Patients are advised to use the medicine under the guidance of a doctor.
