Patellar fractures are intra-articular fractures and are more often treated surgically. Conservative treatment is only suitable for non-displaced patella fracture and some fracture separation less than 3mm and articular surface displacement less than 2mm. 1. 6 weeks to 8 weeks after fracture (plaster immobilization period): the main exercise training is to carry out ankle pump training, quadriceps, hamstring isometric contraction training and lateral leg raising exercises, and according to the fracture healing condition, gradually start weight-bearing and balance function training. Note that early flexion and extension during this period may cause displacement or delayed healing of the fracture, so attention should be paid to protection during training. 2. From cast removal to 3 months after injury: Mainly perform knee flexion and extension exercises. Including CPM exercises, seated pressurized leg drop exercises, supine hip extension exercises and seated leg hold exercises. Note that the training must be gradual and gradually increase the flexion angle. Active knee flexion and extension exercises should be started when the fracture is well healed by X-ray review to strengthen the muscle strength and joint flexibility. At a later stage, you can gradually start muscle strength exercises, straight leg raising exercises, leg hooking exercises, anterior-posterior and lateral stepping exercises, and clock lifting exercises. 3. 3 months after the injury: gradually start static squatting exercises, squatting up with one leg on the affected side, and downward exercises in front of the steps. Note that during this period, the patella fracture is not strong enough to heal, so the training progress should not be forced or blindly advanced, and knee pads can be used for protection if necessary. After the occurrence of patella fracture, you need to consult a doctor in time, and follow the doctor’s advice for treatment and rehabilitation, to avoid causing secondary injuries.
