Does trisomy 16 recur?

Usually, chromosome 16 trisomy is not recurrent and is an episodic disease. Chromosome 16 trisomy belongs to abnormal chromosome number disease, which is an extra chromosome on top of the original chromosome 16. There are many causes of chromosome 16 trisomy, such as advanced age of the pregnant woman, exposure to radiation, viral infection, exposure to chemicals and so on. Since not every pregnancy is stimulated by the above factors, trisomy 16 fetal arrest does not usually recur. If recurrent fetal arrest occurs, timely examination of both parents, the environment and the embryo should be conducted to understand the specific cause of fetal arrest and treat the cause. Once the cause of fetal arrest is clearly identified, timely medical treatment should be carried out to control chronic diseases, keep away from adverse environment, and if necessary, terminate the pregnancy.
