Lamotrigine, usually does not cause an increase in appetite. Lamotrigine is a sodium high channel blocker that closes voltage application compliance. It produces repetitive discharges that block application and voltage compliance, and also inhibits the release of pathologic glutamate (an amino acid that plays a key role in the formation of seizures), as well as glutamate-induced bursts of action potentials, making it effective in intractable epilepsy. Adverse effects of lamotrigine tablets include diplopia, blurred vision, conjunctivitis, dizziness, somnolence, headache, fatigue, gastrointestinal disturbances, ataxia, anxiety, and confusion, and do not usually increase appetite. Lamotrigine needs to be used under the guidance of a doctor, not blindly self-medication.
