Do bile duct stones mean back pain?

Bile duct stones are not only a symptom of back pain, but may also present with upper abdominal pain, chills and jaundice. Choledocholithiasis is a stone disease that forms in the bile ducts inside and outside the liver and can be categorized into extrahepatic and intrahepatic choledocholithiasis. Choledocholithiasis often manifests itself as epigastric pain (which may radiate to the back of the right shoulder), chills and high fever (body temperature may be as high as 39~40℃), jaundice and other symptoms, and may be accompanied by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, bloody stools, loss of appetite, weight loss and so on. The presence of bile duct stones can be treated by giving antibiotics, hepatoprotective drugs, NSAIDs and other medications. Surgical treatments such as choledochotomy for stone removal, bile-intestinal anastomosis, and hepatectomy can be performed if necessary. Patients with choledocholithiasis should avoid a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet, do not overeat, and can exercise appropriately to enhance immunity. Patients should go to the hospital in time and cooperate with doctors for treatment to avoid adverse effects.
