The incubation period of AIDS ranges from six months to 15 years, with the average incubation period being around 8-9 years. During the incubation period, there are no obvious clinical symptoms, but they can be detected. HIV antibodies or a confirmatory HIV test can be used to make a definitive diagnosis. Many people are completely unaware of their HIV status during the incubation period, and most of them are detected during job checkups, blood transfusion tests for other diseases, or preoperative tests. According to the current treatment guidelines, it is recommended that standardized antiretroviral therapy be administered during the incubation period. Regular antiretroviral therapy protects the immune cells from destruction and reduces infectiousness.
