The main ingredients of Atractylodes Macrocephalae Paeoniae Radix are Atractylodes Macrocephalae, Paeonia lactiflora, Fenghuang, and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae. In this formula, Atractylodes Macrocephalae dries dampness and strengthens the spleen, Paeonia lactiflora nourishes the blood and softens the liver (tonifying the blood, and softening the liver); Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae clears the qi and awakens the spleen; Fenghuang disperses liver and soothes the spleen (evacuating the liver qi and toning up the temper). In clinical practice, it can be used for symptoms such as diarrhea due to liver depression, intestinal tinnitus in the abdomen, abdominal pain before diarrhea and relief of abdominal pain after diarrhea, with a thin white tongue coating and irregularities in the veins of the two passages.
