Sperm nucleoprotein, one of the components of semen, is used to determine whether the quality of the sperm meets the criteria for normal fertility.
Sperm nucleoprotein is usually produced by the seminal vesicle glands and is a component of semen. A sperm nucleoprotein maturation rate of greater than 70% usually indicates that a man’s semen is of normal quality and may not affect normal fertility.
A sperm nucleoprotein maturation rate of less than 30% indicates that the sperm quality is too low, and there may be oligospermia or hypospermia, which may affect male fertility and even cause male infertility.
When the sperm nucleoprotein count is too low and affects male fertility, further examination and treatment are recommended.
