It is recommended to have anesthesia for tooth extraction after 24~48 hours after drinking alcohol. After drinking alcohol, the alcohol content in the body is too high, which will affect the effect of local anesthesia, excessive bleeding during tooth extraction, and the inability to use anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., as follows.
1. Affect the effect of local anesthesia: after drinking alcohol, the body’s metabolic capacity is poor, the local anesthetic drugs can not produce the normal effect, which will lead to pain in the extraction process.
2. excessive bleeding: after drinking alcohol, alcohol will accelerate blood circulation, this time the extraction wound bleeding will be more than normal.
3. Inability to use anti-inflammatory drugs: tooth extraction may occur inflammation and infection, need to take anti-inflammatory drugs, such as metronidazole. Metronidazole will react with alcohol to produce disulfiram, resulting in dizziness, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), and in serious cases, life-threatening.
All of the above medications should be used under a doctor’s supervision, avoid self-medication.
