A 75% blockage of a blood vessel is considered an intermediate to grade 3 blockage, which is life-threatening in severe cases and should be treated with an appropriate program based on the type of blood vessel that is blocked.
There are four levels of blockage based on the percentage of reduction in vessel diameter: Grade 1, 25% to 49%; Grade 2, 50% to 74%; Grade 3, 75% to 99%; and Grade 4, 100% complete blockage.
When the degree of blockage reaches grade 3, if the blocked vessel is a branch of coronary artery supplying the heart, the blood supply to the heart will be seriously affected, which can cause myocardial ischemia, low blood pressure, coma, respiratory difficulties, etc., and stent implantation should be considered to improve the symptoms. If the venous vessels are blocked, such as lower extremity deep vein thrombosis, lower extremity swelling, pain, fever and other symptoms, anticoagulation, thrombolysis or stenting is required.
