What is the function of spinal stenosis

Spinal stenosis is a condition in which the space in the spinal canal becomes smaller due to some factors and the adjacent spinal nerves are compressed, resulting in pain, numbness and other symptoms. 1. Common causes of spinal stenosis include: congenital developmental abnormalities, degenerative spinal lesions, trauma, spinal tuberculosis, tumors, and herniated intervertebral discs. 2. Different parts of the spinal canal stenosis have different symptoms. (1) cervical spinal stenosis will appear limbs and trunk pain, numbness, sensory hypersensitivity, which is the earliest symptom; in the sensory abnormality will appear after the weakness of the limbs; in the late stage of the disease appears in the urinary and faecal disorders. (2) Thoracic spinal stenosis is characterized by pain and numbness in the lower limbs and trunk, weakness, stiffness and inflexibility of the lower limbs; the symptoms of urination and defecation are similar to those of cervical spinal stenosis. (3) Lumbar spinal stenosis is characterized by intermittent claudication, pain in the buttocks and lower limbs, and urinary and bowel disorders. 3. Treatment: In the early stage, the treatment of spinal stenosis can choose non-surgical treatment, if the patient’s symptoms are more serious, affecting the daily life need to be operated as soon as possible. If the above mentioned symptoms occur, it is recommended to consult a doctor for treatment in time to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
