How to remove stitches from a wound

Wound debridement mainly consists of three steps: disinfection, debridement and re-disinfection. 1. Disinfection: After washing hands, remove the wound dressing, disinfect the skin around the wound 3 times with alcohol cotton balls from the inside out, gently wipe the secretions in the wound with saline cotton balls, and disinfect the area of 3~5cm from the wound. 2. Remove the suture: after disinfection, one hand gently lift the knot with tweezers, so that a small section of the suture buried under the skin is exposed, the other hand take the wire scissors and cut the newly exposed suture against the skin, and the hand holding the tweezers gently draw out the suture along the original direction. 3. Re-sterilization: After removing the stitches, the surrounding skin should be sterilized again with iodophor cotton balls, and then covered with sterile dressing and fixed with adhesive tape after sterilization. The dressing can be removed after two days. Patients who need to remove stitches from the wound should go to a regular hospital in a timely manner, with the help of a doctor to remove the stitches, and the possibility of contamination of the wound by removing the stitches on their own is higher.
