What’s wrong with the red chin that looks like ringworm?

The redness of the chin resembles ringworm considering two disease possibilities: the first possibility is ringworm, which appears as flaky erythematous patches with slightly elevated edges, covered with fine scales, and small papules. A fungal test is required, and a positive fungal microscopy result can be obtained by taking oral itraconazole capsules once a day, two at a time. Topical naftifine ketoconazole ointment is applied twice a day for treatment. During the treatment period, close contact with others needs to be avoided to avoid causing fungal infection in others. The second possibility is to consider perioral dermatitis, which can appear as flaky erythema, tiny papules, and tiny pustules on the chin, accompanied by some itching. It is mainly caused by irritation from topical ointments, or sun exposure, or improper application of cosmetics. You can take Epinastine Hydrochloride capsules orally once a day, two capsules at a time. Topical application of zinc oxide ointment borate 1:1 mixed with fusidic acid ointment is used for treatment.
