Can thyroid nodules cause hiccups?

Thyroid nodules usually do not cause hiccups. Thyroid nodules are lesions caused by localized abnormal proliferation of thyroid cells. Most patients may have no obvious clinical manifestations, while some patients may have pain around the nodules, pressure and foreign body sensation in the throat. Patients with hyperthyroidism may have palpitations, irritability, diarrhea and other symptoms, while patients with hypothyroidism may have chills, fatigue and other symptoms. So thyroid nodules do not usually cause hiccups. Hiccups are usually caused by gastrointestinal diseases such as reflux esophagitis and intestinal obstruction, central nervous system diseases such as brain tumor and craniocerebral injury, as well as physiological factors such as eating too much, too fast, and drinking carbonated beverages. Patients with thyroid nodules who experience frequent hiccups are advised to go to the hospital after eliminating physiological factors.
